Updates and travel and links, oh my!

Hello all!

Long time no update - alas I got covid :-( It was not fun. I do not recommend it.

I am slowly getting better but I’m one of the people with lingering symptoms so it will take a while before I am back to 100%.

As part of my getting better and refocusing on my words and my works, and that includes revising some of my pen name works and getting on with my novellas.

To help with some of my future novellas I plan to take a trip along to Golspie to soak in some sunshine and get more of a feeling for the place, as that is my where my next novella will be set. This is a companion to Home for the Holidays and while I have been to Golspie a few times I want a chance to get to know it better for my characters.

My pen name has a book available over on BookNet (for free!) which is a paranormal romance with a fated mate werewolf and witch painting. Super cute, super communicative and only a pinch of murder, it was so much fun to work on this book for the “Bound by the Moon” competition and I’ve been delighted to see how many readers have enjoyed their time with the story.

I will also be posting another short book up on the site to see if the audience there likes my vampire romances as well which are more that pen names style. That story is a longer time story of mine that I never got to finish, and I think this will be a fun experiment to get it over the line. I plan to post it to Amazon in the future as well, but we will see how it goes and what I feel like once it is complete. It’s taken the book three years to come back to me so I don’t want to spook it off.

I am also redoing a course I did earlier in the year but had to drop out part was through, which is Publish and Thrive with Heart Breathings. This course is a self-publishing focused course which deep dives into your writing, your mental space, how to have a presence online, how to promote your books, and, most importantly for me, how to figure out what you want from your writing and get a measure of your own success.

I found this course so positive and so practical; it was exactly the sort of breakdown between pragmatic step by step guides and really self-focused work to dig into the bones of what you want from your writing and how you feel about it. There is so much to be said for how Sarra walks you through matters and how she creates a community that is open and safe to discuss fears, worries and even just soundboard off ideas with a wide variety of perspectives from all over the world.

Publish and Thrive is part of a two course bundle that Sarra offers, the other being HB90. I have never taken HB90, as I’m neurodivergent and not 100% convinced it would work for me the way it works for others, but all the feedback I have heard has been wonderful. Again, you can find a lot of information about what Sarra does on her Heart Breathings YouTube channel but I would thoroughly recommend looking at testimonials from other former students as well to show how many people have found this course a massive help for them.

Now, nothing in this life is free and I appreciate times are tight for nearly everyone. This course is not a cheapie, but there are payment plans and there is a lot to be said for spreading the cost if you want an in-depth guide about self-publishing and managing your own business as a writer. Once of my biggest praises for this course is how transparent and open Sarra is about the stress of running your own business and how to adapt that so it works for your life rather than pretending there is one size fits all. That made the course worth it for me, and everything else was sprinkles on that very nice cake.
